Good-bye Northern Virginia, Hello South Korea

So, I left Northern Virginia. It’s unbelievable to type out (let alone say out loud) that I live in South Korea now. Who knew that I would be here? My husband and I sure didn’t think another assignment in South Korea would land on our plate. Alas, it did. And instead of doing another unaccompanied tour like our last go around, we opted to do command sponsorship this time. Why? Unlike last time, I already work from home. I didn’t have a career to worry about. With those factors in mind, why not? It was still a difficult pill to…

Playing Tourist at the National Mall

It only took a year and a half…. Actually, I’ve walked on the National Mall with family and friends already, but my husband has either been away or unable to come with us. He hasn’t been able to see any of the monuments and memorials and with the weather turning, we wanted to make sure we make of the time we have before Winter. This past Sunday was beautiful out. A couple months ago, I drove up to the National Mall area on a Sunday and surprisingly found that parking wasn’t as bad as I thought. So, I thought it would…

I’m so lucky to have so many heroes!

This post is sponsored by Single Edition Media on behalf of La Brea Bakery, but all my thoughts are my own. Today is my husband’s birthday — HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY! — and in a couple of days, it’s Veterans Day. Along with celebrating my beloved’s special day of birth, it’s also time to celebrate all the countless Veterans out their for their service to protect the wonderful country I call home. I mentioned that I’m luck to have so many heroes and it’s because I really look up to all the men and women that put on a uniform. It…

Nominate your hero for a free meal!

This post is sponsored by Single Edition Media on behalf of La Brea Bakery. As military families, we are very familiar with time apart from our service member. We’re used to missed birthdays, holidays and anniversaries. It comes with the territory. With Thanksgiving coming up, it’s natural for us to think of others, especially for those that make us thankful for what we have. We can’t leave out our loved ones that have to spend the holiday away, serving our country. I’m lucky to be married to a special soldier and have a retired airmen as a father. We learn to…

My Day with Prince Harry, the First Lady and Doctor Biden

Talk about an amazing whirlwind experience! First, a huge thank you goes out to my homegirl, Jo, My Gosh for being such an amazing person and for allowing my crazy self to sit next to her at the event. Plus, an even bigger thank you goes out to Blue Star Families for their continued support to military families everywhere. If it weren’t for y’all at BSF, we wouldn’t have been able to go, so you rock! I’ve been in the Metro DC area now for almost two years and consider myself lucky to be surrounded by so many awesome historical…

Alone on Valentine’s Day? Make it all about yourself!

Back in 2013, I wrote a handful of blog posts for MilPages. The site now operates as forum for military members now and all my entries aren’t live anymore. I thought it would be appropriate to share my very first entry with them because it was about Valentine’s Day — and how I’ve used to spend the day alone…. Here is what I wrote two years ago: I’ve never spent Valentine’s Day with my husband and I won’t this year either. It doesn’t bother me though. I swear I’m not the Valentine’s Day scrooge. I believe we should show love…

We’re All in this Together — One MilFam

I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to be a part of the military spouse community. Seriously, it’s the main reason I haven’t lost my mind. Everyone, and I really mean everyone, I met in my journey to military spousedom and beyond have been A-MAZING and helpful — whether I’ve met them on or offline. Not only that, they have given me (and continue to give me) a generous amount of support. I wouldn’t be where I am now without the people that I’ve met and they have also given me the drive and motivation to empower others that might end…

My Military Wedding: Pinterest vs. Reality, Pt. 2

Last weekend was the first anniversary of my church wedding! My husband and I decided to utilize a Bed & Breakfast deal we nabbed for a romantic overnight stay. I think I’m hooked on the B&B experience (as I’ve mentioned before, haha). We got back home on our anniversary afternoon to finish off the weekend relaxing around our home. I actually turned on our wedding video and replayed the ceremony for the second time since getting it (my parents watched it when they visited). It was so amazing to be able to watch our ceremony from another perspective — and…

Fort Belvoir’s Oktoberfest

This past weekend was jam packed! I had a special special guest come into town, so I played tourist for a day and danced the night away in D.C. AND I volunteered at the BESC’s Autumn Bazaar during Fort Belvoir’s Oktoberfest. It was such an amazing event that I was so happy to be a part of. I just started participating at my local spouse club and can’t stress how much I’m loving it! What an amazing group of people! The goal of the club is to fund raise for scholarships and we have fun doing it. You can’t beat…

Arizona for the Weekend

I’m back! The last couple of weeks have been CRAZY! First, I’ve been catching up from my parents visit AND planning ahead for being away for my Arizona trip. I practically didn’t have any time to myself. Plus, I’ve just been so antsy to finally see my husband again. Last week, I saw my husband graduate a class. It was my very first official Army spouse proud moment. Because most of the soldiers that graduated came from outside of Arizona, a lot of family members weren’t present. I wasn’t the only crazy family member that showed. It was nice to…
